Can't get any crew reports, mysterious goo etc to work

Hi,

It's been a while since I've played the game, but for some reason all of a sudden I can't interact with my mysterious goo containers or take down crew reports. If I hover over the mysterious goo, nothing happens. I'm playing the latest version (1.0.5.1028) on a Mac. Not sure if I'm doing something wrong or not. Anyone have any insight?
Please help.
