Internet troubles

Hello,

A huge storm last Saturday and it fried our modem. So got another one, different model. And now any Ethernet cable I use won't work on my pc? Works on other pc's and consoles just not mine. Anyone had this problem or know how to fix it? Nothing lights up on the back of the pc and I get the x saying no connection to Internet
